L. lais warbler < Gr. ὑπολαις hupolais small unidentifed ground-nesting bird; “Oreophilais gen. nov. Type species. Prinia robertsi Benson ... Etymology. Oreophil-, Greek, mountain-loving. The lais component of the name, elided with the first part, derives from part of the Greek hypolais, which refers to a small warbler-like passerine and has been employed in the formation of several warbler genera” (Clancey 1991).
