DEFINITIONS

PHRYGILUS
(Thraupidae; Ϯ Grey-hooded Sierrafinch P. gayi) Gr. φρυγιλος phrugilos  unidentified bird mentioned by Aristophanes, perhaps some sort of finch or sparrow; "Gen. Phrygilus 1) Cab.  Genus inter Euspizas et Fringillas (Struthus Boje) locum habens. Differt ab illis statura graciliore, rostro longiore, magis compresso, maxilla basi parum sinuata, ab his vero maxilla minus sinuata, tuberculo palati nullo; alis brevioribus; cauda breviore, minus emarginata, rectricibus emarginatis.   Typus: Fr.
