(Psittacidae; Ϯ Yellow-billed Lorikeet N. musschenbroekii) Gr. νεος neos new, different; ψιττακος psittakos parrot; "Gen. nov. Neopsittacus, SALVAD. Sp. 34. Neopsittacus musschenbroekii (ROSENB.). ... Questa species ha il becco notevolmente diverso da quello dei Trichoglossini; la mandibola superiore è molto più fortemente incurvata, e la inferiore è molto meno prominente all' innanzi e coll' angolo (gonys) largo e formante anteriormente una superficie piana. Per tali caratteri questa specie differisce da tutte quelle del gruppo dei Trichoglossini, ai quali forse neppure appartiene, per cui ho creduto di doverne fare il tipo di un genere distinto."
