DEFINITIONS

CRYPTOLEUCOPTERYX
(Accipitridae; † Plumbeous Hawk C. plumbea) Gr. κρυπτος kruptos  hidden; λευκος leukos  white; πτερυξ pterux, πτερυγος pterugos  wing; "Cryptoleucopteryx gen. nov.  Type species: Leucopternis plumbea Salvin, 1872.   Diagnosis: Cryptoleucopteryx plumbea is distinguished from all other buteonine hawks by the combination of an overall dark gray plumage, black tail with a single white medial band, and white underwings coverts.   Included taxon: Cryptoleucopteryx plumbea (Salvin, 1872) gen. nov., comb. nov.   Etymology: From the Greek crypto, meaning hidden, leuco meaning white, and pteryx, meaning a wing.  Gender feminine."
