GOODFELLOWIA

Sturnidarum. Bill like that of Basileornis; base of bill to the nostrils covered with erect feathers, those in front pointing forward, those further back upwards, their tips meeting above the ridge of the culmen. A curious long crest, consisting of decomposed, hair-like feathers, rises from the forehead and covers the middle of the crown. A ring round the eyes, and large patch behind the latter, bare of feathers. Tail very long, graduated, , the lateral pair much less than half the length of the central one. Wing about two-thirds the length of the tail; first primary 20-22 mm., about one-fourth the length of the second, which is only a few millimetres shorter than the third, the latter about equal in length to the fourth and fifth and forming the tip of the wing. Feet strong. Coloration greenish steel-blue and black; rump white. Female like the male, but perhaps a little smaller. GOODFELLOWIA MIRANDA, n. sp. ... The genus is named in honour of its discoverer, Mr. Walter Goodfellow." (Hartert 1903); "Goodfellowia Hartert, 1903, Bull. Brit. Orn. Cl., 14, p. 11. Type, by monotypy, Goodfellowia miranda Hartert."
