Typ. et sp. unica S. ignobilis, sp. nov. ... It is remarkable for the short, straight, conical bill, in which it differs from all the allied species that I am acquainted with" (P. Sclater 1861); Sclater believed his single imperfect specimen to be a furnarid allied to Philydor.
