Gr. κορκορα korkora bird mentioned by Hesychius, not further identified; cf. French name "Corbicrave" < Corbeau raven; Crave chough); "LXXXIX.e Genre. CORBICRAVE, Corcorax. Bec moyen, élevé, fort, fendu jusque sous les yeux, comprimé sur les côtés; à mandibule supérieure voûtée, élevée; à arête notablement arrondie, à narines en partie cachées par les plumes avancées du front; à branche de la mandibule inférieure écartée, distante; ailes alongées, pointues; queue longue, étagée, ample et arrondie; tarses longs, forts, largement scutellés, à scutelles des doigts renflées. CORBICRAVE AUSTRALIEN; Corcorax australis. Crave noir; Fregilus leucopterus, Vig. et Horsf., Trans. Soc. Linn. Lond., t. XV, p. 265? Bec, tarses et plumage noirs. Habite la Nouvelle-Hollande.
