(Melanopareiidae; Ϯ Olive-crowned Crescentchest M. maximiliani) Gr. μελας melas, μελανος melanos  black; παρηιον parēion  cheek; "LXXXII. Melanopareia RCHB. Nat. Syst. d. Vögel t. suppl. — Schnabel etwas stärker, ein wenig gekrümmt, Schwanz stark abgerundet, fast gestutzt. Kleid eigenthümlich: Wangen und Gurgelquerband schwarz, Schulterfederchen weiß, Beine fleischfarben gelblich.— Andeutung der Gattung Thamnophilus, nach des Beobachters D'ORBIGNY eigener Bemerkung.    367. M.
