(Corvidae; Ϯ Malay Black Magpie P. leucopterus) Gr. πλατυσμα platusma flat object, plate, blade; -ουρος -ouros -tailed < ουρα oura tail. Reichenbach's 1850, plate LXXX, labelled Passerinae: Pyrrhulinae Loxiinae - Callaeatinae, shows the broad-feathered heavy-looking tail of this bird; "Platysmurus Reichenbach, 1850, Avium Systema Naturale, pl. LXXX (no specific names given). Type, by subsequent designation (G. Gray, 1855, Cat. Genera Subgenera Birds Brit. Mus., p. 63), Glaucopis leucopterus Temminck, 1824." (JAJ 2021).
