Sclater 1890); "Rhinomya, being also previously employed; it is therefore changed to Rhinocrypta, G. R. Gray. The species to R. lanceolata, G. R. Gray" (G. Gray 1841); "Rhinocrypta G. R. Gray, List Gen. Bds., 1840, p. 25. New name for Rhinomya d'Orbigny and Lafresnaye, i.e. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, 1832, not Rhinomya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, Diptera. Type, by original designation, Rhinomya lanceolata (d'Orb. et Lafr.) = Rhinomya lanceolata Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire." (Peters 1951, VII, 279).
