(Meliphagidae; Ϯ Striped Honeyeater P. lanceolata) Gr. πληκτρον plēktron spear-point; ῥυγχος rhunkhos bill; "Genus PLECTORHYNCHA, Gould. CHARACTERES GENERICI. Rostrum capite brevius, leviter arcuatum, fere conicum, et acutum naribus basalibus, operculo tectis; mandibula superiore obsolete ad apicem indentata. Alæ mediocres; remige primo brevissimo, tertio, quartoque longissimis. Cauda mediocris et æqualis. Tarsi validi; digito postico cum ungue forti, et digitum intermedium anticum excellente; digitis lateralibus inæqualibus, externo longiore, et intermedio basaliter conjuncto. ...
