(Trochilidae; Ϯ Green-bearded Helmetcrest O. guerinii) Gr. οξυς oxus  sharp, pointed; πωγων pōgōn, πωγωνος pōgōnos  beard; "Genus OXYPOGON.   Gen. char.— Rostrum capite brevius, debile et rectum.  Genæ supra subtusque rostrum plumis elongatis ornatæ; illis supra erectis, his subtus pendentibus.  Alæ paululo longæ.  Cauda ampla et occlusa, furcata.  Pedes ampli et validi.  Tarsi nudi.  Hallux cum ungue longior digito, cum ungue intermedio.   ...  Types, Trochilus Guerinii and T.
