LOPHOTRICCUS
(Tyrannidae; Ϯ Scale-crested Pygmy Tyrant L. pileatus squamaecrista) Gr. λοφος lophos  crest; τρικκος trikkos  unidentified small bird. In ornithology triccus signifies tyrant flycatcher; "80. LOPHOTRICCUS1 SQUAMICRISTATUS (Lafr.).  ...  Lophotriccus, nov. gen., Berlepsch.  λοφος = huppe; τρικκος, nom propre.  Les espèces: 1. L. spicifer (Lafr.); 2. L. squamicristatus (Lafr.)" (von Berlepsch 1883); "Lophotriccus Berlepsch, 1883, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, p. 553. Type, by subsequent designation (Sharpe, 1884, Zool. Record for 1883, Aves, p. 34). "Lophotriccus squamicristatus (Lafr.)" = Todirostrum squamaecrista Lafresnaye." (Traylor in Peters 1979, VIII, 73).
