(Cotingidae; Ϯ Black-headed Berryeater C. melanocephalus) Gr. καρπος karpos fruit; ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos bird; "Generally, Black-headed Berryeater appears to take slightly larger fruits than C. cucullata ... and probably takes these more frequently in flight" (Kirwan & Green 2011); "CARPORNIS. ... These birds are found in the tropical forests of America, and their habits and manners are similar to those of the last genus [Cotinga. ... They feed on fruits and insects, and are thus compelled to migrate from place to place in search of their food]" (G. R. Gray 1846); "Carpornis G. R. Gray, 1846, Genera Birds, 1, p. 179.
