Loxops nov. gen. Die Gattung Loxops (von λοξος, schief, seitwärts gebogen und οψ, Gesicht) ist in Färbung und Schnabelbildung eine Wiederholung der Gattung Loxia im Kleinen. Die Schnabelspitzen sind indess weniger stark gekrümmt. Typus: L. coccinea. Fringilla coccinea Gm. Lath. von den Sandwichs-Inseln.” (Cabanis 1847).
