Linnaeus's Parus comprised twelve species (P. cristatus, P. major, P. americanus, P. cæruleus, P. ater, P. palustris, P. caudatus, P. biarmicus, P. Pipra, P. erythrocephalus, P. Aureola, P. Cela).
