DEFINITIONS
HYLOCITREA
(Hylocitreidae; Ϯ Southern Hylocitrea H. bonthaina) Portmanteau of genera Hyloterpe Cabanis, 1847, whistler (cf. Gr. ὑλη hulē woodland) and Muscitrea Blyth, 1847, whistler. The Southern or Yellow-flanked Hylocitrea was formerly included with the whistlers Pachycephalidae, but has since been found to have links with the Hypocoliidae; "Hylocitrea, gen. nov., differs from Pachycephala (the type of which is pectoralis Lath.) in colour-pattern, the sexes being more or less alike, rictal bristles not noticeable, and wing-formation more rounded. Type, Pachycephala bonthaina Meyer & Wigglesworth [sic], 1896." (Mathews 1925); "Hylocitrea Mathews, Bull. Brit. Orn. Club, vol. xlv. p. 87, 1925. Type (by original designation): Pachycephala bonthaina M. & W." (Mathews, 1930, Syst. Av. Austral., II, p. 681).
