Pl. Col. 221 (Amadina pol. Rüpp. Syst. Ueb. p. 77; Estrilda pol. Gray Gen.), quæ Ortygospiza appellanda est, ob similitudinem pygmeæ Coturnicis formæ (Oρτυξ, Coturnix; σπιζη, Fringilla).  ...  Ad currendum in terra egregie formata et, colore transversim fasciato, cauda brevi, corpore crasso, sat similis parvulæ Perdici.” (Sundevall 1850); "Ortygospiza Sundevall, 1850, Öfv.
